Dust failed because of the asinine decision making the original team had and Dust has lost players because the community is full of groups that are mostly just a bag of dicks that'll stomp the ever living sh!t out of those that can't compete using any method they can (ranging from proto/officer stomping std and adv randoms to abusing glitches) and then blame CCP for their actions.
Nice to see the community is still mostly just a bag of dicks.

Yeah, pretty much the "bag of dicks" thing. Too many dicks on the dance floor. Yeah, this game could have recovered from the fck ups, but not with groups running around seemingly doing what they can to burn it to the ground with no consequence what so ever.
I'll admit that CCP shoulders some of the blame for allowing these groups to drive players away; but in the end the people in them still are the ones that have chosen to do what they do. Chosen is the key word there, because they do have the choice and they choose to not only ruin this game but to go balls to the walls in their efforts to do so. Honestly, that bothers me but it's not the part that really gets me. What really gets me is that these people have the audacity to refuse to take responsibility for their actions by blaming CCP for allowing it to happen and even going so far as to defend their actions as if what they're doing is nothing but sunshine and rainbows.
When I first started playing I told everyone I knew about Dust, it was fcking awesome, like a modern tribes. Then I just stopped, started telling people "nah, you don't want to play Dust"; not because CCP was fcking up the game, but because of a lot of the people that play this game. I was and still am ashamed to have ever recommended this game to my family and friends; the only people I recommend this game to now is people I dislike because I'm a sadistic bastard.
Got to admit though, the hope that it'll turn out alright is strong because here I am still playing from time to time. Really though, there is still that potential for this to be one of the best FPS games to exist especially if CCP would stop *****-footing around and dedicate some real resources to it & stop enabling the people driving players away from the game.
Nice to see the community is still mostly just a bag of dicks.

Going to have to say the community was better when there were more players. Most of what's left is not the crowd you want. Most spend zero dollars and like you said spend most of their time ruining the experience of others. Mention removing K/D as a stat and watch who defends it, but can't give an actual way it benefits the community. You'll see pretty quick where the dividing line between guys who care about the game as a hobby and the "bag of dicks" that only think about their own amusement. The asset gap and SP gap are too high for new players to surmount. So the game is doomed to failure at this point with no new players (with fresh money) to replace the ones leaving. The F2P model IS part of the problem, but CCP bears most of the blame. Mismanagement of this brand has been monumental. It was a unique title with a real following once. Now its just a tired old low graphics laggy FPS with a player base that in most cases they would be better off without. Well hell man, I defend KDR but I'm an old school gamer from when that was the only stat. Honestly I don't see how removing KDR will help anything because these people will point to whatever stat is held in the highest respect and all the stats can be gamed. WPDR, throw out some uplinks and hide. WLR, queue sync and leave battles that aren't in your favor. Isk efficiency stomp the sh!t out of those that can't compete and run bpos or leave battle when there's actual competition.
I defend KDR because killing is the job I'm used to. I'm not the best slayer but that's what I am, a slayer. If I'm not getting a positive KDR I'm not doing my job. Sure I can logi and it's what I've been doing lately & damn good at it (in my opinion) but it ain't natural to me. I want to kill, not heal. Of course I also try to play the objective even when it's obvious there's no point in it up until the last few matches I can stomach and I just want to get some points.
I can't say F2P is part of the problem because the only reason I started playing is because it's F2P. Which of course I've sunk roughly $150 in this game so far (oddly enough it was relatively recently I started spending money on the game) and despite that, it's not why I'm so damn bitter, I started getting bitter long before I spent any money, simply because so many players seemed to go out of their way to fck everyone else over. That's the only thing I can honestly point to as the problem with this game. The fcking people that play it.
/half sober rant.
